This sounds silly and everybody can’t believe it when I say it, but I have a phobia of cheese and cannot even touch it if it’s not in a packet. But people keep telling me that cream cheese is not actually a type of cheese, so it would be ok for me to eat it. Is this true?? If so, what’s actually in cream cheese?
Please no silly answers!! Thanks in advanced, much appreciated. x

It’s true. Cream cheese is basically just soured cream from milk, that is thickened and spreadable. It is NOT cheese, by definition. No cultures or rennet.
May want to get some couseling for that food fear thing……..

If cream cheese is okay by another name, then call it something else. Is butter cheese? What about sour cream? They’re all just different forms of milk. There’s nothing magical about calling it cheese. But the phobia will be a bother and a social embarrassment to you for the rest of your life is you don’t do something about it. Consult a therapist, or if you’re still in school, talk to a counselor. You’ll be glad you did.
