A recipe for African candy?

I remember making an African candy that was really sweet and orange in color, probably in '98 or '99 sometime around then and I cannot remember what it was called or how I made it or where in Africa it came from. Please if you know a recipe that might fit this please share it.
Note it is not chocolate, if you are eating orange colored chocolate, you might not want to be eating it unless you know it has been dyed or colored! It was a candy that I made with sugar and water and some other stuff in which I cannot remember. I think it was brought to soft ball or firm ball stage but again I cannot remember
