i want to build a potato gun, but not just a toy, i want to take time and make a very nice one. if i go combustion, id have to get a grill igniter and wire that up, but then i have to actually buy fuel, whether its hair spray or propane or whatever. if i go combustion, id want to use an electric solenoid, but they are so expensive! Is the solenoid ($60-100) worth it when using a pnuematic style launcher? my last gun was just a basic pneumatic with a manual ball valve, but it leaked so i threw it out.
i of course would be using high enough pressure rated PVC either choice…
thanks!

We used are BBQ lighter and we never had any problems with it as for fuel the cheaper the hairspray is the better is is for a potato gun. If you have a leaking problem try using the silicon they use to water seal sinks and showers it is very durable, easy to use, and makes a good seal. Don't use it as a glue because when we did that it didn't hold up to well.
