Can Egg whites affect a pregnancy test?

September 26th, 2008 · 7 Comments

Just curious - I got a faint positive yesterday at 9 DPO. Last night DH and I had intercourse but used egg whites for a lubricant as I hear they are the most safe and natural thing to use. Anyhow I tested this morning again and the line is still there but more faint - I am wondering if maybe the egg whites are affecting the outcome of the test since I used FMU and I didn’t use the washroom afterwards to flush out the egg whites. What do you think?
Look people - it's in ALL the major pregnancy books. It's the only safe lubricant to use while pregnant. Honestly people need to mature a little bit ore before posting in this forum.
And by the way the goal is to become pregnant so the second positive is a good thing! I miscarried in July and we have been trying for another baby. I was just expecting to see a darker line this morning although I guess it makes sense that it wont be darker until tomorrow. Thanks!

No, egg whites don't contain hcg. TWO positive tests? You're pregnant! To be safe why not test again using a digital? There's something about seeing the word "PREGNANT."

      Congratulations!!!

You used egg whites as a lubricant? You mean, salmonella and E. coli egg whites? Listeria egg whites?

Okay, yeah - I mean eggs come out of a chicken’s anus (they share their reproductive tract with their waste tract), they often get chicken poop on them, and it’s incredibly difficult to keep the insides of eggs from touching the outside egg shell. Using egg whites is not a good plan for anyone, but especially not a woman that might be pregnant since your immune system is compromised.

If you got two positive tests - then you are pregnant. It does not matter how faint the line is. If it is there even BARELY there - then the test detected HCG in your urine. The 2nd test would probably not be much different than the first since they were taken less than 24 hours apart. Your hcg doubles ever 48 hours. So take one tomorrow morning or the following morning. At 9dpo the test line WILL be very light. But sounds like you are pregnant!

      congrats!
