French Fries are from potatoes and ketchup is from tomatoes; vegetable.
In my opinion, anything that goes into a salad is NOT a fruit, so tomatoe is not a fruit.

The late president Ronald Reagan wanted to classify Ketchup as a vegetable. This occurred in the 1980s & was Reagan's way of saving money on the federally subsidised school lunch program in the U.S. (& you brits & canadians didn't think we subsidised anything.). Instead of green beans & peas for lunch children could have a dollop of Ketchup with their mystery meat.
Silly, ketchup is classified as a condiment in our pyramid food group & I don't ever remember seeing it listed in the four food groups. French fries are part of the bread section of the four food groups. So they are in the same section as toast, oatmeal, potatoes & rice.
