I dont see why not, but is he eating solids??
      I was still breastfeeding then.
      I would go with fruit.

Yes you can, I added all kinds of fruit to the rice cereal. Eventually though, I just switched to oatmeal which my daughter likes much better. You can mix it yourself, or you can buy it premixed with fruit in it already.

That is what I did with both of my girls. I actually use the oat cereal b/c it is easier on the digestive tract. I mix fruit and veggies with cereal. It is usually 2TBS for 4oz of food. She loves it!

He doesn't need to be eating rice cereal. If he doesn't like it, or only wants a little, that's fine. There are no nutrients in rice cereal that he has to have (iron is the only nutrient, and he gets ample iron in his formula or breastmilk).

If you really want to give it (it IS cheap and convenient), you could mix fruits or veggies with it and see if he likes it better that way. Any jarred food is fine. You can also buy cereal that has fruit already added, if that's more convenient.

Yes most definately!. My son loved applesauce mixed with his careal. Any kind of fruit is good though, like apples, mango, bananas. I never added veggies to his cereal cuz that doesn't seem to mix to well.

Sure can…just be sure to introduce the fruit or veggie slowly to be sure he's not allergic and then mix all you want :)

We did this with both of my daughters. Specifically we mixed baby food fruit with the rice cereal but there's no reason you couldn't do the same with veggies as well for a little extra 'oomph' to the meal especially if you seem to have a big eater on your hands!

yes you can. Ask your doctor which to start with. Usually you start with vegetables and you stick to one color like all the orange veggies. (to watch for allergies) I was still breast-feeding too at 6 months but I started the solids around then as well. Good luck!

It's actually a suggestion on the box. I would try the food by itself first to make sure that he isn't allergic or anything. Any fruit is better to mix with.

Yes you can. I also mixed fruits with meats when my children started eating them because they did not like the texture of meat alone. It is fine. You can add which ever ones your baby likes to them. It is best to start with the yellow fruits and veges: squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, potatoes, peaches, pears, bananas, applesauce…

My daughter is 12 months and I remember the Dr telling me to make sure that I feed her three days of the same fruit or veggie. So if you have done that then yes you can mix it. Although I didn't give my daughter a lot of cereal b/c there isn't much nutritional value.

Yep, you can add fruit. My daughter loved it.
Despite what the first poster said, you can still offer solids to your baby in addition to breastmilk/formula.
I'm not sure what you mean, though, by he's not eating rice cereal properly - maybe he is not ready for it? Or maybe he just doesn't like it.

that's what I always do. I choose a fruit, peach, apple, orange, whatever, and then I add enough cereal to make it smooth. It's also easier for them to swallow and to get used with different textures.
