I have a recipe that calls for 2 cups of milk. Well I only have about 1 cup of milk. I was wondering if I could use 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of water. I am making brownies from a cake mix and the recipe said to use 2 cups of milk. Do you think it will come out okay if I only use 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of water?
Sorry, I guess I should have put this in there as well. The milk is for the chocolate pudding. The recipe calls for a package of instant pudding and it calls for 2 cups of milk. Then you add the cake mix and choc chips, etc to make the brownies. I was just wondering if I could substitute the milk for water all together or half milk and half water. The pudding doesn't have to set or anything, just prepared

Yes, but the flavor will suffer.

No brownie mix I’ve ever seen calls for that much milk. Are you sure?
Even a 2 layer cake mix is only 1 1/4 cups liquid. You can use half milk and half water for good results.

I have done this with other recipes, but not with brownies. There was not much difference in bread when I did this.
So, I don’t think it will hurt anything to use it in brownies.
