Can someone help me identify the type of microbe growing on my cheese?

I opened the fridge to find an old mozzarella ball covered in brownish, round, protruding colonies of what I am assuming is human flora or something else transferred by touch. I freaked out and threw it out, but I am now curious about what the creatures were. Any ideas? thx
