      Coffee “beans” are not actually beans; they come from a small tree. And they are roasted before they are used to make coffee. So coffee beans and genuine beans are not interchangeable.
      In the past, some people have used lightly charred wheat as a coffee substitute, but not so much any more. That’s the basic idea of Postum.
