My girlfriend has a kidney condition, and she can't eat a lot of salt. But we're going to order Chinese food next time she's over. She's going to get Moo Gu Gai Pan, because she doesn't like spicy food, and has never had Chinese food before.
Does Moo Gu Gai Pan have too much salt for her, or is it ok? She said she can eat pretty much anything, just not a lot of it.
Moo Gu Gai Pan: A Cantonese dish of chicken, mushrooms, vegetables, and spices sautéed together.

Well, most of the Chinese food at Chinese restaurants taste yummy to Americans because they've been modified since they first came to the U.S. during the gold rush to be pleasing to Americans. They fry and add a lot of soy sauce to them, which has a lot of sodium. I wouldn't recommend that for her.
Remember that most food at restaurants have a lot of salt because they aren't all "freshly made" (aka they are frozen food) or in this case, lots of soy sauce is used which has extremely high amounts of sodium.

It would still be nice for her to enjoy some Chinese food , especially if she has never tried it.
You can make a special request when ordering, and explain your special/ low salt needs. I'm sure there are other people, including some Asians who have the same problem!
You might also want to be sure/ request they do not add MSG…
It would Really help if you went shopping ahead of time and brought your own bottle of Low Sodium Soy Sauce which the chef could use while cooking your special dish, and/or your girlfriend could could use to season to her own taste or use the rest at other times in the future.
It might take a little hunting around, but I know it is available. Try ringing around 1st; save you some driving time…
And won't she appreciate how thoughtful you are?!
