My water level is close to 2 inches away from the top, I don't like to keep it all the way full because I like to see them eating, anyways my CC Star insists at being clear at the top until 2 of its arms are out of the water, will it hurt the star to be out of water, A lot of stars can't be exposed to water, will it hurt the star to do that? I am getting tired of knocking it down because it climbs right back up.
my tank is 90 gallons, 5 gallons low is not robbing the fish of that much space, and not I am not into reef keeping…..

CC Stars are very hardy and this action will not harm them. Also I hope that you are not keeping this star in a Reef they are one of the few that is NOT Reef Safe. Also by not keeping your tank filled you are robbing it of very essential water remember that every 1 one inch of linear fish takes 3 three gallons of water. Fun Facts anyway good luck and have fun. I have been doing saltwater reef and tanks for 30+ years.

my sandsifter star does this on occassion. I would just leave him be. He isn't going to commit suicide and if it bothered him to do it, he wouldn't. He is just cruising around, testing the boundaries. no biggie!
