Do people normally have broccoli and rice casserole for Thanksgiving?

  Not at my house, but I am sure families enjoy different dishes that others do not.

  Well it depends on your family or on you. Every family or person is different and nobody will have the exact same thing on their Thanksgiving menu. I suggest that you just do what feels right for you. for example my family enjoys Italian food on Thanksgiving. Every body is different.

  we usually have that at christmas but there’s not a thing wrong with it if you want to have it at thanksgiving time too. i’d probably make it for thanksgiving if we didn’t already do so many other side dishes.

  Not normally, but there’s nothing wrong with adding new dishes along with the traditional turkey and things. Go for it!

  No, not at any Thanksgiving dinner I've attended or prepared. My husband's family is the typical take cans of soup and mix with vegetable type casserole (canned green bean casserole comes to mind) and my family usually does fresh steamed green beans with toasted almonds and butter. Since we serve sweet potatoes and mashed and usually some type of bread, we've never added another starch such as rice.

  Isn't that strange what different families put together for their traditions…I had never heard of it before this post and it seems like it's pretty common among the other answerers. Interesting!
