Im sure the alcohol would kill some types of germs. I cant see 1 shot a week having any significant effect on your health weather positive or negative.

The higher the proof, the more alcohol is likely to be present in the vodka, but it's no substitute for real medicine. The Bible says in your elder years replace some of your water with wine. One shot a week shouldn't hurt anything unless alcoholism is a problem for you.

if anything, it will kill some of the germs in your mouth… simmilar to mouthwash. thats all. the alcohol once its in your bloodstream won't significantly affect germs any more than your own cells… but 1 shot isn't significant enough to do anything big.

you could pour it on a wound if you didn't have any disinfectant, but even that wouldn't be recommended unless you were in an emergency situation and didn't have rubbing alohol or some other safer way to disinfect the wound.

Well it may help to kill off some germs if you have a open cut, are out in the woods and no help in sight. But just drinking the shot, while fun, will have no health benefits.

I don’t think it helps nor is it bad for you. Makes sure you don’t become an alcoholic either. But pouring it on a wound as a last resort may kill germs but that’s about it.

Just drink it with cranberry jiuce and enjoy~

Actually a study was done on cruise ship passengers who were fed tainted seafood.

95% of those who had no alcohol drinks had food poisoning.
50% of those who had 2 alcoholic drinks had food poisoning.

I think its pretty easy to conclude that drinking alcohol with food is a way to reduce the chance of getting food poisoning. Wine with a meal is a very good idea, indeed.

Now, they noticed that drinks higher than 11% worked better than drinks under 11%. So, a shot of vodka is 40% and would work wonderfully. Wine is generally 13.5%, so that works. Beer is almost always under 11% (I’ve had some at 11.0, 11.3%), so it would not be as effective as wine and liquor, but still beneficial in prevent food poisoning.

One shot a week is honestly not enough. You need a shot after every dinner meal (you will stick out socially if you order a shot of vodka with lunch). A lot of cultures have a drink that is used as a digestif — a drink taken after a meal. Turns out it probably does prevent food poisoning most of the time, so it really is a good idea.

Is one shot a week healthy? Not really - it does nothing to improve your health under normal conditions. Is it bad for you? Not unless you have a medical problem (such as, diabetics shouldn’t drink alcohol).
