Foods that aren't vegetarian?

So I'm going to explain this as best as possible. I recently found out that marshmallows are not vegetarian. Are there any other foods that people would normally assume are vegetarian that are not? Maybe a site with a list of all these foods. I want to transition into a vegan soon and I'm realizing it's going to be harder than I thought.
Marshmallows contain gelatin. Gelatin is animal products.

Gelatin is a translucent, colourless, brittle, nearly tasteless solid substance, extracted from the collagen inside animals' connective tissue.

I know there's many types of vegetarians, I don't eat anything that was once alive and walking, swimming, crawling etc.

I thought vegetarians just don't eat meat. Worrying about marshamallows sounds more like a vegan to me.

complete vegan? there's lots of kinds of vegetarians. ovo,lacto,ovo-lacto,demi, etc. depends on what kind you wanna be. if you wanna be 100% vegan it'll be tough. Your best bet is googling vegetarians. what to eat & what not to eat.

Even energy drinks, which has taurine in it… although it might be synthesised chemically these days.

The best thing to do is find a healthshop or even a vegetarian/vegan shop where special vegan products can be purchased. This is expensive though, so it might be worth taking a vegan cooking class or something. There are endless options to what you can eat, you just have to be a bit creative, as food that is placed under our noses usually have a lot of funky crap in it not suitable for vegans. Start looking into eastern cooking, indian, mediterranian, middle-eastern… use lentils, chickpeas, all sort of beans to make sure you get a sufficient amount of all the amino acids you need.

      Good luck! :)

Jelly (Jello if your american) has gelatin in it (hence the name!)

most foods have animal products in them.

Crisps are a bit funny tho, normally the meaty flavoured ones dont have anythin animal related in them but the other flavours do! Check the back of everythin if you wanna go vegan!

You wont be able to touch anything with mayonaise or butter/margarine in/on it, nothin with rennett in it, nothing containing gelatin, and there are one or 2 flavours and colourings that can be made by crushed insects im sorry to say!

Where do you draw the line?

There are not really "many" types of vegetarians at all. Vegetarians and vegans do not eat flesh from an animal or slaughter by products (like gelatin). A vegetarian may or may nor choose to include eggs and dairy. A vegan will not use dairy or egg..in any form.

As far as things that are slaughter by products…there is animal rennet that in many cheeses. There are several cheeses that do not use animal rennet and it usually says so on the package. Cabot brand has a few made without animal rennet.

      no rennet (found in cheese)

      thats all

Pastry(s), biscuits and hot chips often contain beef fat. Animal products are often hidden in the small print of ingredients lists you have to check them to know. Wine is often clarified with fish or dairy. Medications and some vitamins are made with gelatin or other animal products.

Rennet! Is in Cheese most cheese that is part of a cow. I will give you the best vegetarian website I have found with every food that had some sort of animal in it did you know booze has sometimes have fish in it? You need to go to this website and click on the list avioding animal products. Even your colours in food sometimes have animals in it like colour 120 is made from Cochineal-A natural red colour derived from the bodies of pregnant scale insects. Can you believe that? Any way vist this website!!!
