there is a spray available that will do that… but it's expensive, must be timed perfectly or it won't work and it has to be done every year….. lots easier to either cut it down or pick 'em up!…
First of all why would you want it to stop bearing fruit. Isn't that the whole point of having one? What you could do is prune it severely. This would keep it from producing for a couple years. The only way to really make it stop (sad to say…) is to cut it down.
Once an apple tree starts producing (which is what they are supposed to do…..)It is about as easy to get it to stop as it is to keep the sun from rising and setting.

I have heard this saying… Put it in a pot with the most infertile soil you have ever seen? or put it in a pot half full of rocks…?
