its okay if you are a healthy person
If you are pregnant, a young child (a toddler) or an o.a.p you shouldn't because your bodies defences might not be strong enough so you can get ill.

Why, has the government band eggs now.

eating raw egg or semi cooked egg is actually a lot safer than you think.
and as a side note, salmonella, although i don't recommend getting it, is really one of the better of the food borne illnesses.
like it's trichinosis or botulism that you REALLY don't want to get…ecol i sucks pretty bad too…

An egg has an immune system in layers from the outside in.
The shell and membrane protect the albumin, the albumin protects the yolk, so if the albumin is cooked the yolk can be gooey.

Of course it is. XD
A lot of people frequently ask and say, "hey! are you sure it's safe to eat this? i mean, no salmonella or anything?"
Me: (LOL! XD) Of course there aren't. The moment you boil the egg, the heat (while you cook) also kills away any known bacteria (if there is, in which there actually isnt. XD)
What's dangerous is when you eat (unknown) eggs raw especially those in which you don't even know whom the manufacturer is.

I am pretty sure it is a 100% safe to eat a soft boiled egg.

The USDA recommends cooking eggs until the yolks are firm, but many people ignore this. Moderate heating is enough to kill salmonella, plus the risk of getting a case of salmonella food poisoning from raw eggs is quite low, especially if the eggs are properly stored and the undercooked eggs are eaten right after they are prepared (they don't sit around). Illness can happen, but it doesn't happen often.
If you are immune suppressed, cooking for very young or very old people, then don't take any chances. For the rest of us, it's a calculated risk. People do it all the time and its only once in a blue moon that someone gets sick.
