Congatulations doing so well on your own! That's a lot of stuff for a garden that size!!

boy it makes me feel like having a salad.

There are lots of places to get the info you seek. One is existing online texts. to get local ones you can try your state and county offices. They can have fact sheets on each veggie and calendars with specific local planting dates also advisories on local diseases/fruit tree spray schedules etc.

here is a list of state offices; once u get to ur place just spy around and see where to navigate:
      http://www.colostate.edu/Depts/CoopExt/4DMG/Links/mastlink.htm

example; state of alabama's planting calendar:
      http://www.aces.edu/pubs/docs/A/ANR-0047/ANR-0047.pdf

if ur state is skimpy, do not despair because u can get it other ways too. For texts, search with the word "vegetable" and "your USDA zone" <<to get ur USDA zone is easy if you do not already have it:
      http://www.usna.usda.gov/Hardzone/ushzmap.html

Also you can try a local forum. A forum is like this place but instead of me just answering you can answer back and then me again..search "garden" "forum" and ur state, area or county. Keep in mind that they can be small or highly populated and some are non-commercial and some specialized (like a rose forum).

this is a small forum and slightly associated with commercialism but poor Todd really looks like he could use someone to talk to and he might know his stuff:

another example; a forum that specializes in seed swaps:
      http://www.seedswappers.com/

The other way to tell what you can plant is to compare the needs of the plant against what you have to offer. Like if your area can get it's first freeze on September 15th or so, then you could count backwards from that day to today and figure what you have time to grow. it is about 80 days. so whatever will mature in less than 80 days is fair game. <<if I planted something today, then due to how my freezes here do not get regular for another month after that date, i can cover my plants/practice season extension and get extra grow time if i want.

if i want to grow lettuce i cannot here in the summer due to it's too hot. but if i consult my calendar then i can see which days are acceptable for lettuce culture.

^^you probably already know that but really it is the only way to go about it. you can get good advice SOMETIMES but it is your local area and activities that can make a big difference. if you face a south sun in the winter or if u are in a cold valley<people online cannot know those things. Same for getting the freeze dates from an online place. ok for starters but then u need ur own records to fine-tune ur garden.

      online freeze dates:

      re room for potatoes:

some folks go vertical with potatoes. Like putting the potato inside a tall tomato cage. except that as the potato grows you can fill in the cage with straw or such. Every time the potato grows you cover it some more. and then the parts that are covered will sprout potatoes.

later, as you need the potatoes, you reach in through or open the cage and harvest the potatoes.

the cage needs to be staked, especially if u plant to leave in place as a winter root storage bin.

some folks like to use tires to stack and do this:
