how long does it take for a fish to adopt to its new environment?

i just bought a flower horn (luo han) it swim around the aquarium but he wont eat the food that i’m giving to him… i followed the correct guidelines on how to choose a flower horn but it just wont eat its food (floating pellet)

      Give it a couple days, but if it hasn’t eaten after 48 hours, I would try getting something a little more appetizing for him. Maybe some frozen foods would be good. They release a stronger scent into the water, and he’ll be more attracted to the idea of that.
      I would leave the lights off a lot, since he’ll feel safer, and feed him just before youre ready to turn the lights out. If he doesn’t eat with them on, wait to see if he eats with them off.
      And if THAT doesn’t work, I would call a local vet who deals with exotic fish and ask what they would recommend doing.
