I am just now boiling chicken legs and thighs and I was wondering how long it would take there are at least 5 legs and thighs in the pot. Thank you for your your answers. :)

      From a full rolling boil it will take about thirty minutes to be done.

      Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then lower the heat and cook as gently as possible until the chicken is tender, but not falling apart; from 35 to 55 minutes.

      hope this helps. good luck and enjoy.

      If they were refrigerator temperature, about 1/2 hour.

      Test them by making a small cut to see if they are done

      If the main purpose is to eat the boiled chicken:

      then bring water to boil, season the water with salt + sugar (1 teaspoon each per gallon of water) + one whole onion + 1 bay leaf: add chicken parts,

      bring to boil; time 20 minutes; remove all impurities (= foam);

      at the end of 20 minutes; turn off the heat, cover the pot and let it cool down for about 1 hr.

      Then the chicken would be delicious.

      I usually boil them, with seasonings in salted water, for 30-45 minutes. We also usually cook bone-in dark meat. I bring the water to a full boil, then cover and turn the heat down to simmer (where there is a constant stream of small bubbles.)

      Or, you could try using a slow cooker and simmering longer if you wanted to set it in the morning and come home to the delicious smell of supper!

      Good luck! Enjoy your chicken. :)

      What are you making with the boiled chicken? Because if you are making soup, for instance, if you boil the chicken for a long time, the broth will get better and better. Not really boil though, more like boil then simmer. If you are boiling the chicken so you can de-bone it for a casserole, yuck, better that you should bake it. Or boil it then bake it. So it depends on what you are making. But fifty minutes minimum if you are just boiling it.
