I'm very scared of food poisoning. I just took it out of the freezer, and the grill had warmed up for five minutes. How long should I cook it? The book says 9 minutes but that's not frozen.

You have to cook it until there is no pink in the center, the time will vary. I love your name - Mr. Monk rocks!

Leave the burger on there until it is no longer obviously frozen, then make a small slit into the middle to see its readiness. Grey would be ready to eat. You don't have to cook it very long at all.

Follow this chart and you will be ok. (obviously a frozen hamburger is still ground beef (bottom of chart) You should really have a meat thermometer in your kitchen.

Just until it's done, no longer.
