I use my electric kettle, starting with cold water, put the egg in, turn it on, when it boils in a few min, it automatically shuts off, then i time 15 min, and then pour in ice cold water, perfect every time.
You can do the same with a pot on the stove, just let it start boiling, and turn it off, then 15 min later, dump off the hot and pour in ice cold water.
Put eggs in a pan and cover with cold water. Bring to a full boil. When it is fully boiling, remove from heat and cover. Leave covered 4 minutes for soft boiled, 20 minutes for hard boiled. This works every time!
Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Season with a pinch of salt. Place the pan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cover with a lid. Allow the eggs to sit for 12 minutes. Drain and cool the eggs for 2 minutes in ice water. Drain and peel the eggs.
Note: Eggs that are a couple of weeks old or older peel easier than very fresh eggs.
I do my boiled eggs on the stove top. Place eggs in the bottom of a pot, cover with water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, time for 8 minutes. Remove from heat and rince with cold water. Let soak in cold water until cooled. Mine always come out perfect. My grandma tought me how to make boiled eggs when I was little.. Ahh the memories.

Here is a tip that I got from the Food Network. It works everytime.
1. Place eggs in a pot.
2. Fill pot with water.
3. Put plenty of salt in water.
4. Bring up to a boil.
5. Let eggs boil for 2 minutes.
6. Turn off heat and cover.
7. Let it set for 11 Minutes.
8. Take eggs out of water and place in ice water.
They should be perfect and peel very easily. I hope this helps you some. Sorry that it is so detailed. But is the only way that I could explain it.
