15-20 minutes. I usually do it for 20 minutes. To make them perfect.
Hope that helps…

15 minutes. Then submerge in ice water. This will stop the cooking and keep the outside of the yolk from turning green

20 minutes. Pour out the water. Run under cold water immediately. Peel asap, it will be much easier this way.

Make sure the water is boiling before you put them in. Then 10 minutes should do.

You boil eggs untill they all float to the top. there is no special time.
14 ShellB // Jul 23, 2008
12 mins after the water starts boiling rapidly. You can put them in before but don't time them until after.
15 RootBeer // Jul 23, 2008
15 to 20 minutes
Make sure you don't let them cool down too much if your making deviled eggs, other wise the yolk and the mix would be too dry and not as fresh. =]

when you see a line in the egg that means its done. it also depends on the kind of stove you got too..all of this is calculated into how you boil eggs and stuff. technology is greater then ever.

put the eggs in cold water on the stove, then wait until water boils, and continue boiling on high heat for 20 minutes
20 Emmalynn // Jul 23, 2008
Every time is different.
RULE OF THUMB:
When they float they are done.
21 beth // Jul 23, 2008
usually only 10 minutes once the water is boiling…
22 dridzy // Jul 23, 2008
its supposed to be 10 in cold water, you start the timer AFTER the water boils
23 Wise // Jul 23, 2008
you can use hot tap water and it will take about 15min
24 thedruidess81 // Jul 23, 2008
put them in right away. Then, as soon as the water starts boiling, start counting your 10-12 min. I've boiled at least 6 at a time that way before. DON'T start counting until the water boils, but have the eggs in there as it heats up

I agree with everyone else, just put a little vinegar in the water to make them easy to peel.
28 Tica // Jul 23, 2008
what you do is bring your six eggs in cold water to a FULL boil….then remove from heat and COVER for fifteen minutes….drain and fill will cool water and peel….you will have the perfect hard boil eggs!
works with one or 18 eggs!!

20 minutes is more than enough.
30 ThatgirlfromKY // Jul 23, 2008
You should boil eggs for about 20 mins then just turn the eye off and let them sit for about 10. Then peel and eat.

It depends on the altitude where you live, but generally if you put the eggs in when the water is cold and let them heat up with the water then let them boil for about 8-10 minutes this should give the results you are looking for.
32 nina c // Jul 23, 2008
Boil for 20 minutes unless you live in Colorado or some high altitude place–then make it 25. After the eggs are boiled, submerge in cool water.

i bring my eggs to a boil for 5 minutes, turn off the heat and cover them for 10-15 minutes. this keeps them from over cooking and the yolks having that green color to the outside. it also prevents cracking while they cook.
i make deviled eggs all the time this way and hasn't failed me yet!

36 superdude xl7 // Jul 23, 2008
trust me ive done this before its usually 10 min. per egg but if you are going to put 6 of them, then follow these instructions:1)first put some water into the bowl you are going to put the eggs in. 2)turn on the stove and place the bowl on it. 3)DONT put the eggs in yet. you have to wait like 5-10 min for it to get hot (the bowl of water). 4)put in the 6 eggs and for them to boil like you wanted you have to wait like 25-30min.

15 or 20 min is good enough
38 diamond257 // Jul 23, 2008
