I'm going on a weekend bike trip in a couple weeks, and I'd love to take some hard boiled eggs as a protein snack. But I don't know if they'd be safe to eat. They will probably be in a backpack in the sun for several hours.
How long will hard boiled eggs stay good if not kept cold?

What I would do?
Only used boiled eggs without cracks.
Feeeze the boiled eggs (once they are cool), wrap in a washcloth or paper towels, and put in a plastic container. You will not have any problems for a couple of days, as long as the nights are relatively cool.
For same-day use, you can peel the cooled eggs and put each one in a plastic baggie, then freeze, wrap and put in a container. More hygienic, and also less messy. I hike and have noticed that eggshells hang around for several years.
