I am assuming the bowl your referring too by your stoner question… would only fit 63 grains, but after your done smoking it you would only get about 51 grains.
This is very easy to figure out. Here is how you do it:
You'll need:
Bag of rice
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons
Different cereal bowls from your cupboard
Piece of paper
Pencil
Calculator
1) Find as many different kinds of cereal bowls as you can. Fill them with water and dump the water into a measuring pitcher to find the volume. Record the volume of each bowl on a sheet of paper.
2) Calculate the average volume of a cereal bowl. Add all the volumes of the bowls together. Divide this number by the number of bowls you tested. This is the average volume of a cereal bowl.
3) Next, you'll need to find the average number of grains of rice in a cup. Use the smallest teaspoon you have. For example, if you have a 1/4 or an 1/8 tsp, then fill it up with rice. You want it level. Do not fill a heaping spoon of rice. Count the number of grains in the measuring spoon. Record this number on a sheet of paper. Do this about 5 times. Use the average formula again for the rice: Add the numbers together and divide this by the number of times you filled the spoon with rice.
4) Find the average number of grains of rice in a cup. There are 48 teaspoons in a cup. If you used an 1/8 tsp in your test then multiply the average number of grains of rice in a spoon that you found from step #3 by 8. This will give you the number of grains per teaspoon. Multiply that by 48. That will give you the number of grains of rice per cup. For example, if you found that the average number of grains of rice in an 1/8 tsp = 10, then 80 grains fit in a teaspoon. 80×48 = 3840 grains of rice in a cup.
5) Rice will increase 3 times in volume when you cook it. 1 cup of rice = 3 cups of cooked rice. You already know how many cups of cooked rice will fit into an average size bowl. And you should be able to figure out how many grains of rice are in a cup of cooked rice with the info that I gave you.
