I have these eggs, they say best before Oct 8th. I know you’re thinking “why have you had them so long?” I receive WIC from the state and it gives me more eggs than I can eat lol.
Anyway. I’ve told my husband that if the egg floats..its bad. These eggs..do not float. They bob on their side a little which I think is fine. He wants to throw the whole dozen out…lol I dont want to..
Are they bad?
I'm cheap..I know…lol
How to tell if eggs are gone bad?

You are right!!! if they lay on their sides and sink they are good.
If they float or tip up on one end they are not.

Yes, the floating of eggs has always been a theory and does work if the egg has gone very bad inside, but beware, if it’s just gone off, it will look and act like a normal egg.
Theres more than a good chance the eggs are okay if they’ve been kept in the fridge, but for the price of eggs, is it really worth trying. Just sling them out and buy some more.

put the egg in a bowl then pick it up with a fork if it doesn’t stay in the fork and its very watery its not a good egg and you should throw it out

If the eggs float, they’re bad, throw them out.
If the eggs stand on end, they’re not yet bad, but old. OK to use, SOON.
If the eggs sink, they’re good.
