So I have always been a big fruit and veggie eater. More recently, then in the past. My boyfriend and i were talking about dieting and he said that if you eat to many fruits and veggies you could become a diabetic, because of all the sugar in the fruit. I was just curious if that was true, and how in the world would we be able to know how much sugar is in fresh fruit? I mean i thought fruit and veggies were supposed to be good for you, not have you become a diabetic?
Anyone have a good website, or explanation? And is there a website for how much sugar is in fruit?
Well Diabete's does run in my family, but i exercise 3 times a week..soo hmm.
well i only eat fresh fruit's and veggies, and i do eat more variety of foods then fruits and vegetables.lol. Like meat for instance.lol.

yeaah. it is kind of true. Fruit does have sugar in it but it also has A LOT of other elements and vitamins that other sugary foods would never have. If you have a family history of diabetes then you should worry more. But a proper nutrition of fruit along with exercise, you should be fine.

If you are eating the actual fresh fruit you probablly won't get diabetic from it. But concentrated fruit juices, and surgar added or packed in syrup fruits do raise the risk of diabetes.
But you might end up with constant diarhea and other problems eating only fruit.

Thats not true, people have been around for thousands and thousands of years. They have been eating fruits and vegetables all that time. There is sugar in them and in some fruits a lot of sugar, but fruits and vegetables have fiber and that is what prevents the fruits and vegetables from affecting your blood sugar. Fiber also helps regulate the mechanism that controls hunger.
The reason people are developing diabetes is, because they take in too much "High fructose Corn Syrup" a concentrated sugar made from corn, this is what makes soda sweet and it is in almost everything. That is why people can drink a whole "Super Big Gulp" at 7/11, because the products made with it don't contain fiber.
Here is another example: Orange Juice–yes it is good for you if its the type that has the pulp included, but if you get the type that has no pulp all you are getting is the sugar with no fiber. If you drink a glass of orange juice its like 5-10 oranges without the fiber and it would be all sugar. That is why they call orange juice "from concentrate" The pulp has the majority of the fiber. The white membrane are the outside of an orange has lots of fiber too.
An orange on the other hand has all its fiber intact(white membrane, plus all the pulp and you don't see anyone eating 10 oranges, because of the fiber.
Sugar is not bad for you
Too much sugar without fiber is bad for you

Too much sugar cannot make you diabetic. Your bodies inability to produce insulin is what makes you diabetic. Diabetes can run in families, or you may be the only one in your family to have it. Health problems like obesity can bring on diabetes but it this isn't you, your diet will not exacerbate it. A diabetic has to monitor their blood sugar levels, but these are not so much from dietary sugar but a test as to how much medication or diet modification they need to adjust to bring their level down to normal.
I sure you are healthy enough to take on as many fruits and veggies as you want with no harm done.
