ok guys here it goes………….. prepair to be enlightened by my retardedness…………..

think first came a little microscopic bacteria thing. and they don't lay eggs. They like screw theirselves and magicly pop out more bacteria things. and then they grew into like fish and lizzards n junk. and lizards lay eggs. and then they evolved into dinosaurs n then chikens n junk. since it was an evolving thing, the egg and chicken evolved together. so the question should be what came first, the dinosaur or the egg? and then before that, what came first the lizzard or the egg? and before that, what came first, the bacteria or the egg? and bacteria didn't lay eggs. So With my perfound knowledge and ability to make up a bunch of bullschit I would say the Chicken!

I believe the Egg came first… I mean dinosaurs were around before chickens and fish were around before that and both lay eggs…

i think the chicken came first. cuz if it was an egg, there would be no creature to fertilize or take care of the egg. well, thats my theory. haha. : )

      The Chicken obviously came first.

The egg would've died without something to warm it.

      :]

i think the egg came first just because when people ask that question they never specify that the egg is a chickens egg!!! ahhh see wat i mean and since dinosaurs been around b4 chickens then the egg came first!! but seriously when a person asks that question they always say "what came first the chicken or the egg?" but they never ask "what came first the chicken or the chicken egg?" see where im going with this? EGG CAME FIRST!

I once saw a one-panel cartoon of a chicken and egg lying in bed together. The egg was looking a little dissatisfied, while the chicken was laid back smoking a cigarette. The caption read, "At last, the age-old question has been answered."

If the egg is not necessarily of any specific type: Then it could be said that the egg came first, because other animals had been laying eggs long before chickens existed, such as the dinosaurs. In biology, egg is used as a general term in this way.
If only an egg that will hatch into a chicken can be considered a chicken egg: Then a re-consideration of the original question suggests: Some animal other than a chicken laid the first chicken egg which contained the first chicken. In this case the chicken egg came before the chicken. In reality, many scientific theories suggest that this would not have been a simple event. For example, the theory of Punctuated equilibrium theorizes that the actual speciation of an organism from its ancestral species is usually the result of many mutations combined with new geographical surroundings, called Cladogenesis.
If only an egg laid by a chicken can be considered a chicken egg: Then a re-consideration of the original question suggests: The first chicken (which hatched from a non-chicken egg) laid the first chicken egg. In this case the chicken came before the chicken egg. Again, this would not necessarily be a straightforward event.
If only an egg that is laid by a chicken and that will hatch into a chicken can be considered a chicken egg: Then the first chicken came from a different type of egg (not a chicken egg) and laid the first chicken egg. In this case eggs (in general) came first, the chicken came after, and the chicken egg came last.
