Ideas for meals without bread, pasta, rice, or anything else in the bottom food group!?

November 9th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I am cutting out the bottom food group from my diet till I drop a few pounds. Before I start I need ideas for meals, epically breakfast, snacks, and lunch. I do exercise a lot and eat a couple of table spoons of flax seed a day and vitamin pills so I will be getting the nutrients I am missing.
Thanks all ideas are appreciated,
Liv

Just make standard meals with protein (meat, fish, poultry) and veggies & fruit … Don’t make any casseroles:) …. Grill the meat & veggies; have lots of salads…..

    Hi,
stir-fry without the rice. there are endless variations for meat and veggies, different sauces.
for breakfast, have some total cereal. it’s like a multi-vitamin in every serving, plus high in fiber to keep you fuller longer. have with some soy milk.
have some nice whole grain bread for some nutrients, minerals, and fiber. yeah, it has carbs, but it has other good stuff and a slice or two a day won’t break you.
there are beans, like kidney, for lots of protein.
salads, use dark green leafy veggies for maximum nutrients, vitamins. add veggies, nuts, beans, fruits, meats. make your own dressing out of some extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar or any vinegar. vinegar helps to cleanse the blood, olive oil is tasty and has anti-oxidants. mustard or citrus juice is also tasty in dressings. mustard is free and citrus has vitamin c.
    see these sites for recipes:

really good recipes, the first one has more everyday ingredients - and REALLY good food, while the second show is more innovative and uses more substitute and more obscure ingredients.
there also used to be a show called low carb and lovin it, but it may take some dedication to find all the recipes. some are still on the food network site but the site can be frustrating to navigate - at least, i haven’t figured out how to find those recipes except by chance, lol. if you google the name of the show you can find links to the food network and some recipes are listed, i just don’t know how to make it list all of the recipes. probably isn’t too hard, if you try harder than i did. here, try this:
    http://www.foodnetwork.com/search/delegate.do?fnSearchString=low+carb+lovin+it&fnSearchType=site
it lists each episode, so you’ll have to look at each one to see if anything tempts your tummy.
    Best Wishes
