Brown sugar is made from sugar cane, which is a plant. It is naturally brown. So is molasses.
A great vegetarian snack is cheese and hummus (chickpea-paste with tahini and garlic).

Some refined sugar is not vegan or vegeterian. I read in a book once that 1/4 of all refined sugar is processed using animal bones. So you have a 25% chance of getting brown sugar (refined sugar with molasses added) that was processed using animal bones. I am a vegan and avoid refined sugar like the plague (because refined sugar is terrible for you). There are a lot of good veggie snacks that you can have.
Rubber Cookies:
Three bananas
1 cup of rolled oats
1 cup chopped dates
some vanilla
Add all the ingredients together, let the sit for ten minutes then bake them at 350F for fifteen minutes.
Nightmare Cookies:
2/3 cup maple syrup
1/8 cup vegetable oil
5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup rolled oats
Some vanilla extract
In a saucepan over medium heat combine the maple syrup, oil, cocoa and cinnamon. Boil for three minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter, rolled oats and vanilla until well blended. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto waxed paper and chill to set, about 30 minutes.
Pita and hummus is really good and very easy, you can also dip carrots and celery in it. Fruit is a great snack and very healthy, I generally buy about five pounds of apples a week. If you are concerned about weight and the possibility of sugar not being vegeterian, then don't buy anything with sugar in it. It's hard, but that's what I do.
Hope that helped!

Get to college as soon as you can. You might even learn to spell.
As to your question, I've never heard that sugar cane eats meat so I guess you're ok on that.
Odd question or what?

Some people say that white sugar is not vegan because some companies use bone char as part of the filtering process. If that makes sugar not vegan, neither is driving a car or using a computer because they both have small amounts of animal ingredients in plastic, rubber and other things.
A lot of brown sugar is white sugar sprayed with molasses.
Sugar comes from a plant, so don't worry about it.
