I heard that lunchmeats and also soft cheeses (like queso) are bad. Is this true?

I’ve never heard that before. I’m pregnant and eat all that.
My sister in law is pregnant and won’t eat hotdogs becuase of the nitrates.

Yes, lunchmeats and soft cheeses aren't the best. That was also on my doctor's list of foods that aren't good to eat while pregnant due to the nitrate (in the lunch meats at least). But cheese dip is fine. It's usually just melted down cheese anyway. By soft cheeses, they mean things like gorgonzola and feta.

As long as you are not in Mexico. Seven years ago, my aunt’s coworker died from eating cheese in Mexico.

I think you’ll probably be ok, as long as you don’t eat it every single day. When I was PG with twins I ate it all the time, and my girls are fine. :)

well honestly these type of ‘processed’ foods aren’t good for anyone to consume…pregnant or not……Im not sure why we all the sudden want to get all healthy when we are pregnant but it should be an all the time health concern….not just while pregnant.

Not bad enough to where you can’t eat it but I wouldn’t partake of it daily though. Good luck!

Actually the cheese in that dip starts as a hard cheese and is softened by pasteurized dairy products. So yes it is safe.

It is ok to eat about anything while you are pregnant as long as it is in moderation. I recemember eating just about what i wanted while i was pregnant, just in moderation, no alcohol though. I came out weighing 187 in my last month, and i now weigh 135. just eat in moderation, and enjoy what you want!
