I am part Native American, and that "wisdom" hasn't been passed down to me! I would try googeling it, I guess its possible, each tribe did things differently. Sounds a little odd though, make sure to let us know if its true or not!
Are you speaking of natives of India? Or of Native Americans?
Native Americans didn't have cheese.. they didn't have any form of animal husbandry. There were no domesticatable animals native to North America, I believe. I may be wrong, though.
Your grandma sounds like a hoot, even if she's not right on this one.
LOL, yes they made cheese from the milk they got from their dairy farms. There were lots of Indian dairy farms (most of them were in Vermont and Wisconsin) before the evil white Europeans came and took all the cows away from them and gave the cows names similar to the places where the evil white Europeans came from, like Jersey, Guernsey and Holstein. And here, you thought the evil white Europeans actually brought cows with them from Europe along with the art of making cheese. The French, Swiss, Germans and Italians actually STOLE the cows from the Indians and took them back to Switzerland and France and Germany and gave evil white European names to the indian cheese…like Meunster, and limberger and mozzerella and brie. But the clever Indians never told THEM the secret of rubbing it on wounds and they suffered sever infections until they later developed pennicillin. Yeah. True story.
Yes, and who do think made that wine to go with the cheese?
