Is there such a thing as American food?
pizza, pasta, and such are not considered American.
What is real American food?
my guess is burgers, fried dough, fried chicken.

Pizza was invented in New York City, so technically, that's American.
And hot dogs are definitely all-American.
And what about fast-food?

Many of the dishes believed to be American are actually from other countries, and modified slightly to account for ingredients and tastes.
French fries are not originally from France, but from Germany.

it may come as a surprise, but burgers are german, fried dough is chinese and fried chicken is older then columbus (no way it's american)
the only thing that is actually american is popcorn, and it was inverted by native americans (modern guys invented nothing NOTHING)

"Chinese" food is an American invention. Though it was invented by Chinese immigrants, it was developed in America to appeal to American tastes.

rubbish fattening fast food with lots of salt, macdonalds pretty much sums it up, there's posher versions of this but its just as unhealthy

Pizza has become an American food because it has been highly changed from the original. We might say sweet iced tea, southern fried chicken, grilled steak, French Fries, soft ice cream in a cone.
Probably any food that's bad for you and can cause you and can clog your heart up because of the cheap ingredients could count.
Never heard of fried dough.
