Is this a good introduction to my research paper about french fries?

October 26th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I am doing a small, one page paper regarding the history of french fries. A completely random topic, I know, but I am having a hard time writing tonight as I am insanely tired. So, some help, comments, or advice?
Thank you!

Here is the intro:
There are many contributors to American culture as it is presently known. Culture can be defined by a society’s beliefs, environment, or even social standing. When one thinks upon American culture, however, it’s food and popular dishes come to mind. The average American eats thirty pounds of greasy french fries per year. Since the early seventies, children have been craving fries as their vegetable of choice. How did the french fry become so incredibly popular? What history lies behind the fried potato?

Try “There have been many contributions to the American culture”, because in my opinion that first sentence sounds kind of awkward.

Good definition, leads us in nicely.

Try “For example, the average American…” and the rest of the sentence. Usually teachers like it if you transition it smoothly.

As for the rest, you’re golden.

Haha no, I’m just kidding with you, great intro! maybe if you said something about how the french fries effect a persons health. just to prove your point better, idk.

      Hope that helps :)
