Isn’t fruit fly research actually helpful?

Why does Sarah Palin mock fruit fly research since it’s one of the most well-known and effective ways to do genetic research?

It’s very important. This is just more of the Republican party’s ignorance of and disdain for science.

Actually a lot of things that are poisonous to humans aren’t to fruit flies and vice versa, caffeine for instance. You get more accurate results by studying things like yeast, rats, and pigs. Most of this type of research is outdated though, unless they are researching something relevant to now, a lot of this has already been done.
