uhmm..is there any way that you can buy an onigiri or a bento in Portland, Oregon? I've never tried it before and I really want to. I've been hearing a lot about it [from tv and shows and books] and it sounds really good. So anyone know where I can get one?
…Wow. That's a really long list. Thanks…

I know a lot of places that serve lunch have bento, but onigiri is harder to come by. I have found it in two Beaverton restaurants - Yuzu (on 117th) and Banya (on Hall Blvd). I believe you can also find onigiri at Uwajimaya (Japanese grocer) on Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy.
(The above answer is fine for a listing of Japanese restaurants, but none of them actually serve onigiri, pfft.)

Onigiri is actually very easy to make…all you really need is the sticky rice and you can have a lot of fun trying to get the triangular shape or you can opt to make it round. (Be sure to wet your hands before you start molding to avoid the rice sticking to them.) You also get to experiment with different fillings and you can add the optional nori and voila!…you have onigiri that is literally at your fingertips forever! Good luck.

A Japanese market? You can make it yourself if you have the right ingredients. Seaweed, rice, and salt.
