Probably just use vegetable oil in a Fry Daddy or some type of deep fryer appliance like that.

Just heat oil (like 1 cup - well, this depends on how much fries you wanna make too) and when it's really heated [up to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C)], add [peeled, and sliced into 1/4 inch strips] potatoes and fry them over medium heat.. until golden… drain on paper towel, season with salt and YUM!

A.H. How do you get alcohol and pork product in french fries?

I peel my potato’s and cut them into fries, I do not use a deep fryer, I use a deep pot, adding 2 to 3 cups of Olive or vegetable oil and heat. When my oil starts to bubble I add a fry. If the oil is hot enough the fry will start to cook immediately, thus the fries do not soak oil.

When I start adding the fries I do it in batches as to not crowd the pot and have boil over.

When they are cooked and golden in color I take out, drain and season. Adding the next batch in.

If done properly they will have a better taste than the take out junk places YOU mention. The oil is reusable if you allow to cool and and pass through a fine strainer to clean the oil. I use clean screw top jars to store.

Use a mix of Peanut oil and Crisco shortening and have the oil at a minimum temp of 350 deg. F.

Ore Ida brand makes what they call a FAST FOOD FRENCH FRY. I buy these for my son and fry them in hot oil in a regular frying pan and they come out just like the ones at Burger King.

If you don’t want to get those then just make sure that your oil is simmering before adding fries. You can tell if your oil is hot enough when you see the little bubbles or if you put a drop of water and it sizzles. Add your fries and cook them till they are golden brown. Test a single fry before removing them all. If the fry isn’t crispy enough for you then cook them a little longer. Drain them well on paper towels.

If you have a small deep fryer then just use that and time it for about 5 minutes. Check to see if it’s crispy enough and if it isn’t then let it cook again. Often fries won’t come out crispy if they aren’t cooked long enough or if the oil isn’t hot enough.

use peanut oil and put them in for about 25-30 seconds and take them out and let them rest for a minute or two, then put them back in the oil to finish cooking. this will give you a good crispness on the outside without being hard, and they’ll be nice and tender on the inside
