Sea cactus, that hatched jelly fish lookin things?

November 8th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I have a sea cactus that I put in a small tank with my baby seahorses. I noticed the cactus had eggs growing on it. They hatched and now I have TONS of little jelly fish looking things. They are round and flat. But they seem to have a black dot in the center. When the swim the go cone shaped, they can also stay stationary in the cone shape. The body of it is kind of transparent but the “rim” of the body looks like little white dots, but are connected with the transparent body. I took my seahorses out but left the cactus and these things in the small tank. HELP!!! What could it be???

This happened to my sister. She’s a mermaid BTW. She was surrounded by seahorses as well, and it seems like they laid their eggs in her hair. When I saw her one morning, she had a bunch of goo in her hair, and I inquired as to which merstallion she porked. She was confused. Turns out that the gooey stuff was baby seahorse. Sucks for them. But yea.

it could be jellies. if you want to get rid of em, (if they are jellies.) you could crank up the filtration, they are weak swimmers and if you put em through the filter it would be like peaches in a blender.
A net and just physically remove them. Also if they are jellies look at the sea cactus make sure there is not more soon to be popin off.

It does sound like you have a kind of jellie but jellies don’t come from eggs. look up the life cycle of jellies. see if that is what you have.
