Sweet Potato Fries??? Do I bake them or fry them? Peeled skin or not?
Please tell me how to make these.
I baked some last night and they were gross. They were soggy in the inside but burnt on the outside and they tasted gross unlike the yummy ones I tried at the restaurant.

You can bake or fry them. That's up to you.
I usually peel them, cut them, oil (either a pray or a little olive oil) and season them and put them on a baking sheet in the oven.
The seasoning is up to you and what you like.

We just scrub them down using a scrubby sponge thing (w/ dish detergent, too!) and then cut into strips and deep fry them in oil about 350ºF…. Salt as soon as they come out of the oil. YUM!

You can do them all the ways you said, baked with or without skin or fried with or without skin. If you fry, use like canola or some other oil with little flavor. If you bake them, toss them in oil and with what ever seasonings you may like. I use just black pepper, because you can add salt or just eat them like that, pepper makes sweet things sweeter sometimes (try it on some fruit and you will see)

6 Steff // Jun 29, 2008
INGREDIENTS conv.
1/2 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground red pepper
1 tablespoon(s) vegetable oil
2 large (about 1 1/2 pounds) sweet potatoes
DIRECTIONSPrepare the sweet potatoes: In a small bowl, combine cumin, salt, and pepper. Set aside. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Peel potatoes, cut each in half lengthwise, and cut each half into 6 wedges. In a large bowl, combine the cut potatoes, oil, and spice mixture. Toss until potatoes are evenly coated.
Bake the fries: On a baking sheet, arrange potatoes in a single layer and place on the middle shelf of the oven. Bake until edges are crisp and potatoes are cooked through — about 30 minutes. Serve immediately.

Peel them, cut them into wedges (not too thick), toss them in a little olive oil, put them in a single layer on a baking sheet, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and bake in 400 degree for 25-30 minutes, or until tender.
Yummy!

5 sweet potatoes, cut into about 1 by 5-inch "fries"
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Place the sweet potato "fries" on a foil-lined baking sheet and toss with the olive oil. Bake until golden, about 45 minutes.
Meanwhile combine the basil, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. In another small bowl combine the mayonnaise, garlic, and lemon juice, and stir to combine.
When the sweet potato fries come out of the oven, sprinkle with the basil salt. Serve with the garlic mayonnaise alongside for dipping.
I got this recipe from foodnetwork.com! It is great, I probably make it once a month!!!
