Vegetarian advice please.?

November 7th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I was just wondering, for a long time I have only eaten chicken, and recently cut meat out totally.

I was wondering what the health implications are (both good and bad) and how I can avoid any nutritional concerns? I think iron is the main one right?

Thanks a lot!

Being a vegetarian does not make you less healthy. Infact, some recent studies have shown that being vegetarian is more healthier than eating non-veg. Recently, non-veg has triggered too many diseases such as flu (triggered by bird flu), sars (triggered by pork and beef), obesity (triggered by meat flesh which becomes saturated fat and is harder than any other vegetarian replacement). They say meat has high protein and good for body. But recent studies say that a person needs only 0.025% of protein in a day which he gets from every source including a vegetarian lentil or beans or milk or cheese. So, wheres the need to eat non-veg? Last but not the least. They say fish is good coz it gives the omega 3 oil which is good for eyes, skin and hair. But the role of omega 3 in making of eyes/skin/hair beautiful is only about 0.001%. The same amount of nutrition u can get from eating lot of green vegetables too.

I have known many people in my life who are vegetarians. Belive me, most of them are healthier than me. I’ve been a non-veggie all my life. And now I m planning to become a vegan if not vegetarian. Coz I realise one thing that A PERSON’S HEALTH IS NOT DEPENDANT ON OTHER CREATURES MEAT. ITS DEPENDANT ON HIS OWN LIFESTYLE AND SATISFACTION TOWARDS IT.

If your still going to eat eggs and dairy you really don’t have any concerns. Just get your protein from: dairy, eggs, beans, nuts, seeds, and grains.

“Yes Iron is probably the main worry you’ll have but you can easily buy non-prescription iron tablets to take :)”

Do not take iron tablets unless your doctor/nutritionist tells you that you need them. Too much iron is baaad.

I would recommend reading “Becoming Vegetarian” by Vesanto Melina and Brenda Davis.
