A nice Chianti. Just ask for a mid priced bottle of Italian Chianti. Pronounced - kee on tee

Either white or red. Only use a wine that you would drink. Never use cooking wine or sherry, it is awful!

Something mid priced will do fine..

I love pinot noir in pasta sauce my favorite is Castle Rock, its great tasting and less than $15 a bottle

I am a former chef and would agree with the second lasy, deglaze the pan when cooking the meat and veg with a bit of red wine, cook it down until it is alomost gone and then add you tomatos sauce, tomato paste, tomato juice or spaghetti sauce, then simmer for 45 min -2 hrs then serve with your pasta.

I usually add what ever I have on hand such as Merlot or Cabernet or Chianti — please do not use Sherry!

I don’t use any. You can skip it.

It is up to the person. If you hate the wine, don’t use it. Myself, I wouldn’t get the cheapest wine that I didn’t mind too much to use for cooking, I don’t afford to spend that much on something like that. It is up to you entirely.
