What would you do if you found a piece of metal sponge in your chinese food?

I almost completely finished my pork lo mein when I bit into a piece of metal! Should I call the health dept or just let it go and realize things happen?

I'd at least notify the store and get your moeny back! They're probably using a coiled metal sponge to scrub with that is falling apart. But it shouldn't have been in your food!

I would call the health department because someone else can get hurt.

I would talk to the restaurant owner/manager about it, so that they can take steps to prevent it from happening again.

If you feel that they were truly being negligent, then I might opt to notify the health department.

I would let the restaurant know out of courtesy, in case some sue-happy, money-grubbing person were to get the next bit, but what is to gain by anything else? No one was injured, you obviously didn't become violently ill. No harm, no foul.

Eww! Well, I wouldn't be eating there again, but previous posters are correct. I would let the store know so that they could (hopefully) keep it from happening again, but I doubt that the health department would be able to do much.

    Sorry!

Report it to management, make sure that you say that you are reporting it in the interest of better quality control. Accidents do happen even with the best of quality control but some restaurants do not have the best behind the scenes care. Check their Health Department rating.
And, you may get a free meal out of courtesy!!!
I complained matter-of-factly about a bone shard in my Lean Cuisine frozen dinner and got coupons for 5 free dinners and 5 more coupons for $1 each.
Any time a product is not up to par, I respectfully file a complaint or comment and have always received a nice letter and most of the time a coupon or other kind of renumerance.
I agree with other writers, too many 'sue happy' people out there, trying to make a fast buck. Accidents happen!
