I'm not really sure what american food would be. I know hamburgers and hot dogs are German in origin. Fried chicken maybe? I guess you would call food that is popular in America, American food.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, microwave food, and everything thing else that is horrible for your body. Taco Bell is even Americanized Mexican food. Look at the founder of every fast food chain, they are all American. Wonder why our obesity rate is skyrocketing?

American food is actually, meat and potatos, vegtables, hot breads, what many call country cookin. Those you named are "fast foods" and sold all over the world. Look at a restuarant's menu and you will see.

they don't really have food that they can call their own, that would take culture.
most american descends came from Europe, as well as the food they cook. apple pie isn't american i believe it was made in Germany first, and all the good cooking apples come from Canada anyway.
if anything would be considered american food it would be ho-ho's and Twinkies and other crap like that.
