Our Brand New ACCELERATED Fat Loss Diet!My fish (a black one with googly eyes that stick out) has something wrong with him. His right gill sticks out and it looks like he's cut himself (on his gill). His other gill is normal but this one looks like it has a piece of skin (or scale) hanging out of it. He stays at the bottom of the tank and when he swims up, floats back down. He is on his side with his hurt side facing up. He's alive and breathing but im not sure if hes got long left. I've seperated him from the other fish and he's in clean fresh water thats been conditioned and everything. What could be wrong with him? The other fish are fine! Could he have swallowed a rock or sumthing??? PLEASE HELP FAST!!!!

I think that might be the symptoms of losing his life..But I don't know what kind of fish it is or anything, I'd put him in a small container or a bowl or something and take him to a store that specials in fish to have him checked out! Good Luck with him..!

You could be dealing with gill flukes– a heavy infection could prevent a gill plate from closing all the way, and trailing parasites could be responsible for the other gill. I'd start treating with a malachite green + formalin (Quick Cure, Rid Ich) or copper (Coppersafe, Cupramine, Organicure, Aquarisol) after removing any activated carbon from the filter. Keep the water very clean and well oxygenated and be sure to dose as directed.
EDIT: Putting it in a small container is a death sentence, and transporting it to a store in one is even worse– the stress from this will kill it for sure.

Go FOR WHAT SOOP NAZI SAID (he is probaly thinkin i am stalking him cuz this is the 3rd time i have said this today. lol. but rest assure i am not. lol). dont listen to the ppl that think ur fish is going to die. this disease can be fatal: HOWEVER it can be treated. using what soop nazi recommneded is perfect and i would make sure ur chemistry is ok. chck ur AMMONIA, NITRITES, NITRATES, ect.

he may be dieing or in pain so the best thing to do is get a bag put him in it with his own water this sounds very harsh but it is the most peacfull thing to do
you then put him in the freezer this way he ges cooler and cooler and peacflly falls to sleep he is i no pain during this proccess
i have done this many many times and it has worked well
so please try it it will put your fish out of pain
