I am getting married and the venue of the wedding has a large corkage price, however this price is greatly lessened if 1.5l bottles of wine are used. However, I can't find anywhere online that sells them. I am looking for cheap to medium prices. I am based in the UK.

Check your local wine shops. Ask them for a recommendation and then ask them to order the larger bottles by the case for you. It will be cheaper.

There are actually a lot of wine merchant in US that sells large bottle format, such as http://www.winestreet.com and http://www.dukeofbourbon.com, but I seriously question the feasibility of shipping there to UK.

I agree that you should try your local wine merchant. However, since you are at UK, you are only a hop and a sub away from France, and you may able to go across the border to get much cheaper wines there. That would be what I would suggest.

The other thing I would suggest is for you to buy even larger than Magnum. I have several large bottles in my collection, including 3 liters (Double Magnum) and 5 and even 6 liters. I love large bottles because they tend to last longer, but I like to bring out huge bottles for party. For my birthday party 2 years ago, I brought out this awesome 3 liters Cab Franc and had everyone signed it. I did the same for one of my buddy's surprise birthday party with a 3 liters Italian Red. That way, you can keep the bottle for memory sake, not mentioning that 1 corking fee for 4 bottle of wine for 3 liters or 8 bottles for 6 liters.

      Cheers and congrats!
