I think because Oil isnt so healthy.
There is way more oil in french fries than the salad.

Potatoes don’t have a ton a vitamins or nutrients. Any that they did have are pretty much gone after you fry them. So they become empty, starchy, carbohydrate filled calories - with nothing beneficial (except that they are super yummy!)

They have lots of trans fats from oil.

true but when fried a chemical is produced which is actually lethal in a large enough dose(don’t worry you’d have french fries every day for about 15 years to have enough in your system). other than that fries are just high in fat and sodium which aren’t good for you.

hot frying oil destroys any nutrients that you would possibly get from a potato.
you are left with a nutrionless stick of starch and carbohydrates, not to mention the high level of fat that you cook them in which has absorbed into the potato and you are now consuming.
the common way to serve them is loaded with salt, which just makes it worse for you.
potatos are not so bad if you bake them, but are disgustingly bad for you if fried.
vegetable oil is not used in salads, neither is canola oil. the oil used in salads is OLIVE oil, which is MUCH better for you than the others.

Generally the oil used is hydrogenated oil which isn’t good for you at all, it raises your bad cholesterol, clogs your arteries and it’s toxic plain and simple.

Well, it depends where the fries come from. The ones you bake in the oven yourself are doused in beef tallow….mmmmmm. Some of the vegetable oils the fast food places use are pretty gross - they’re made with GM ingredients and have extra fun additives in there and have all the wrong types of fats for your body, they really are disgusting. And who the hell puts canola oil in a salad - YUK!! Canola oil is hardly the pick of the bunch when you can use olive oil, grapeseed oil, even peanut oil!!

Well, all oils are categorized in the Fats & Oils group, which is unhealthiest. French Fries are also usually doused with grease and salt, both which are unhealthy. Baked fries are usually okay, though.

The type of oil, and the quantity of salt.
Use a healthy oil and a salt substitute and they’re fine.

It’s when you heat the oil to such high temperatures that it becomes unhealthy. Additionally, cooking foods at high temperatures also produces carcinogenic chemicals.
