It's kinda like a style.
like many sitcom, tv shows, movies; they always eat the Chinese take out in a paper bucket.

you can always put your food on a plate or bowl
the paper buckets are about the only way to get the yummy food dishes home

Most all of the restaurants I patronize use the plastic foam coffin boxes which I dislike because it always tips in the carry bag and juice leaks into bottom of bag. In the landfill, they don't degrade.
Paper buckets are better.
