Why does drinking wine make me feel more drunk than other types of alcohol?

I only drink whiskey, beer or red wine when I drink. Wine makes me feel tipsy so much faster than any of the others. I can drink a lot of the first two, but when I drink wine, I feel funny even after half a glass! What is it about wine? or is just me?

Different alcohol affects your body in different ways. Have you ever noticed if you have different reactions to different kinds of alcohol? I know rum makes me mean, so I stay away from it, whereas whiskey makes me happy.

It is just a matter of how your body metabolizes the alcohol and how often you drink it. If you drink wine less often than the other types of alcohol, then it is going to hit you harder when you drink it because your body isn't accustomed to that medium.

Hope that helps; enjoy the buzz!

It is the alcohol percentage. Beers are usually 3.2 to 5%, but wines usually start at 7% alcohol and I have some in my rack that is 18% alcohol! So it really can be pretty potent, even compared to mixed drinks.
