Will eating fruit inhibit my weight loss?

So I've wanted to lose about 10-15 pounds in the next few months so I started exercising 5 days a week an hour each day and substituting dinner with fruit instead. I will typically eat a mango, some watermelon, and maybe a peach or something like that. I've tried to be good and pick fruit instead of a granola bar or something but now I'm reading and hearing that too much fruit is bad. Will the excess sugar stop me from losing weight? I lost like 5 pounds in 4 weeks and then my weight loss stopped and slowly went down about another pound in the past 2 weeks. What else can I do to speed this along? And is the fruit thing a significant issue? I mean what else am I SUPPOSED to eat?

so frustrated…

baked, grilled, or broiled lean meats, especially chicken, turkey, and fish. steamed or raw vegetables. fresh fruit. whole grains. lowfat dairy. portion control is key! walking, riding a bicycle, swimming, dancing, aerobics, anything that gets you up and moving.

Well fruit contains natural sugar that takes longer to break down in your body than say vegetables do. My personal trainer always had me eating fruit before about 2pm so it breaks down all the way before I go sit on my butt the rest of the evening. Fruit keeps you full longer because it takes longer to break down, but it also means that your body isn't processing it as fast either.

I would suggest that you take your dinner down to one piece of fruit, a lean piece of meat and some veggies…

It sounds like your body went into starvation mode a bit and is holding on to everything you are eating. You need to make sure you are getting enough protiens, fiber, etc.
People often tend to lose weight faster in the beginning and then slowly taper off to a level weight loss each week. For the record, 1/2 a pound a week weight loss is great. Its enough to keep you going with the diet, and slow enough that your mind and body are getting used to eating less.

Try http://www.thedailyplate.com - you can log all of your food on there, figure out exactly how many calories you need to eat per day to lose X amount of weight per week, and you have a sounding board with all the various groups on there you can join. I love it. Best of all - its free.

no eating fruit won't inhibit your weight loss. Not eating a balanced diet will.

save the fruit for snacks and to accompany meals but don't skip a meal or substitute a measly piece of fruit for a whole meal.

make breakfast or lunch your big meal and then have a light dinner.

review the food pyramid to make sure you are getting all of your foods in daily if you want that 10-15 pounds to stay off forever.

Also ramp up your physical activity. If you're not doing any type of activity–then walking for 30 minutes 4-5 days a week will speed up your metabolism and burn the fat off. If you are getting in activity then increase your heart rate during your activity.

      Good Luck

Okay first of all,PLEASE tell me you were checked by a doctor BEFORE starting this diet regimen. Don't go for these fad diets because you might lose SOME weight, but then you'll plateau and most likely gain it all back plus more.
Instead of eating three regular meals, eat six small meals and stretch them out thru the day and don't eat after 6:00p.m..
It's very important you eat a good breakfast every day. When you eat the small meals, you're body thinks it's not getting enough nourishment and ends up using the stored fat in your body.
Don't lose more than 20 lbs. a month or you can go into shock from losing it too fast and it can kil you. Keep up your exercise routine too. Remember, eat a mixture of foods and drink plenty of ewater with it.
